14 or 19 tonne?

Loaders get hired on cycle time, not on horsepower. Here is how that plays out.

Load-out is what these are really for.

Feeding trucks off a stockpile, all day, at a rate that keeps the cartage moving. Cycle time is what you are actually paying for. A loader that fills a tipper in three passes will beat an excavator doing the same job in five, and over a full day that difference is trucks moved rather than trucks waiting.

Take the 14 tonne for tighter ground.

Smaller yards, smaller stockpiles, and where you are loading smaller trucks. It turns in less space and is easier to work around other trades on a busy site.

Take the 19 tonne when the day is long.

Bigger trucks, bigger stockpiles, or a job that runs load-out all day and lives or dies on cycle time. These are the four hardest-worked machines Platinum owns, which tells you what they are good at.

Book the loaders early.

Availability is usually the constraint on these, not capability. They work all year round rather than in seasonal peaks, so the more notice you can give on dates the better your chances of getting the size you actually want.

Buckets.

Bucket setup varies across the fleet. Tell us what you are loading and into what when you request a quote, and we will confirm what is available for your dates rather than guess.

Loader hire questions.

The things people ask before they book.

Wet or dry hire?

Both. Wet hire includes one of our licensed operators, which is how most load-out work goes out. Dry hire is the machine only, floated to site, for crews already set up to run it.

What does a dry hire operator need?

To be competent on a front-end loader and able to show evidence of it, which on most sites means a verification of competency for the machine class. If that is going to hold the job up, take it wet and we will put one of ours on it.

Do you float it to site?

Yes. Float and travel are quoted per job, so give us the site address when you enquire and the number you get back is the number you pay.

How much notice do you need?

More than for most of the fleet. The loaders are the busiest machines in the yard and run steadily all year, so same-day is possible but not something to plan around. If you know your dates, lock them in early.

Need load-out on site?

Tell us what you are loading, what you are loading into, and the dates. You will get a complete quote back, usually the same day.
